Guided Rtanj hike
To Šiljak (1,565 m) by day, or at night to watch the sunrise from the top. A village guide, starting from the camp.

There are two ways up Rtanj, and both lead to the chapel on Šiljak. The day hike starts after breakfast and goes slowly through the forest and across meadows to the ridge, with time to rest and stories about the mountain. The night hike starts around two in the morning, with head torches, under a sky full of stars, so that we reach the top before dawn.
When the sun rises over the mountains of eastern Serbia, everything around the summit turns gold while the valley with the village stays in shadow below. We come down for breakfast in the village, and the rest of the day is for resting in the shade or in a hammock.
The guide knows the trail by heart and sets the pace to the group. Rtanj is a special nature reserve, so we stay on marked trails, do not pick plants and carry everything back down.
