How to get to Rtanj and Ilino
The village is in Ilino, Boljevac municipality, at the foot of Mt Rtanj in eastern Serbia. Here is every route: by car from Belgrade, Niš and nearby towns, by bus, by plane and by shared ride.

By car
Times are approximate, without stops. For the exact route, navigate to “Ilino, Boljevac” or open the map above.
From Belgrade
about 3 hoursTake the A1 (E-75) motorway towards Niš to the Paraćin exit, then the regional road towards Zaječar and Boljevac, and on to Ilino. The last stretch is a paved road through the villages at the foot of Rtanj. The petrol stations in Paraćin are the last big stop before the village.
From Niš
about 1.5 hoursVia Aleksinac towards Sokobanja, then the road around Rtanj towards Boljevac and Ilino. It is also the most scenic route: Rtanj is in front of you for most of the drive.
From Zaječar and Bor
under an hourHead for Boljevac, then Ilino. From Bor either via Zlot or via Zaječar, depending on where you start.
From Sokobanja
about half an hourAlong the road around Rtanj towards Boljevac. A good pairing if you combine the spa town and the mountain in one trip.
From Paraćin, Ćuprija and Jagodina
about 1 hourTo Paraćin, then the same road as from Belgrade, towards Zaječar and Boljevac.
From Novi Sad and Subotica
about 4–5 hoursMotorway to Belgrade, then as from Belgrade. If you come on a Friday, leave before noon to avoid the traffic around Belgrade.
By bus
Buses from Belgrade, Niš and Paraćin go to Boljevac and Zaječar. From Boljevac we arrange a transfer on request; tell us the day and time you arrive. Check the timetable at the bus station or on the operator’s website before you travel, as it changes in summer.
By plane
The closest airport is Niš Constantine the Great, about 1.5 hours’ drive from the village. From Belgrade Nikola Tesla airport it takes about 3 hours. We arrange airport transfers on request, or you can join a shared ride.
